Immersion Assembly

If you go to Point England School you will notice that there is an Immersion Assembly on the first day of each term. Do you want to know what Point England is focusing on in the 4th term of 2014? It is ‘Art Attack’.

An immersion assembly is when the whole school joins up in the hall. The principal tells the kids what the term is about. There will little items from each team. Day one of term 4 was the same as usual. Teachers from each team presented items about the topic.

First Team 1’s performance was about the environment. Team 1 is going to the river and see the environment. They are going to have a picnic to see the view.

Next was Team 2’s performance was about the three primary colours and what they make. The three primary colors are blue, red and yellow. The colour blue and red makes purple. Blue and yellow makes green and red and yellow makes orange.

After Team 2’s item was Team 3’s performance was about different artists like Leonardo Da Vinci and Andy Warhol and others. Did you know that the museum spent around 200 thousand dollars on a room for only one painting -  The Mona Lisa. The Mona Lisa is worth around 1 billion dollars.

Team 4’s performance was similar to team 3’s performance about different artists. They Had Monet, Fatu Feu’u and Van Gogh.

Finally Team 5. Team 5 walked up onto the stage and pulled a board form the side of the stage. On the board had three pieces of paper one was black and the other two was white. The teacher started painting. While the teacher was painting there was a video. The video was some drawing of a person. When the teachers finished the video finished. The teaches flipped the paintings upside down and the was three portraits of Mr Jacobson Mrs Jarman And Mr Burt.

How to make Spaghetti Bolognese

Ingredients:

Spaghetti

Mince

Bolognese sauce

Toppings:

Cheese

Pasly

How to make it.               

Grab a pot and pour cold water in the pot. Put the element on 7. Pour the spaghetti in the water and let the water boil. Grab another pot and put the element on 7. Put the mince in the pot with the mince bolognese sauce and some parsley in the pot and let it cook.

Wait for 40 minutes. Drain the spaghetti serve on a plate. Pour the mince on top of the spaghetti. If you want you can sprinkle cheese on top of the mince. Well there is how to make Spaghetti Bolognese.

Plastics may pose a greater threat than climate change

I am writing this to (John Key) New Zealand’s prime minister

New Zealand has had a terrible plastic pollution rate. New Zealand’s oceans is polluted by plastics. Most sources of marine pollution are land based. There is all kinds of plastic that pollutes the ocean. Mr Key is there any way that you can stop all this madness ?

Mr John Key all of that plastic is killing the all the fish and birds. Some fish think that the plastic bags a food and eat them and then a bird might do the same think that it is food. Mr Key can you ban plastic bags because it is harming many animals like turtles whales dolphins fish birds and many other animals.

Plastic bags are one of the biggest problems of pollution. If you ban plastic bags we might have less pollution in our oceans. If you walk around Auckland or other places of New Zealand you will see plastic bags flying around the place. Lots of the plastic bags are from supermarkets like Pak’n Save, New World, Countdown, The Warehouse and many more.

Mr Key

If you look in our oceans you will see lots and lots of rubbish. There are animals lives at stake. Mr Key fishermen should stop littering. There should be a rule that you should bring your rubbish back on land not throw their rubbish in the ocean. Please do something about this issue.

Why your mind and your body is inportant

Did you know that if you do not look after your body you could get very sick like having cancer, Diabetes and many more. If you do not drink enough water a day you can get dehydrated. When you get dehydrated your brain does not work properly because your body is 90% made out of water.

Did you know if you do not be careful you might break a bone pull or rip a tendon you will not be able to do certain sports or exercise. If you do not do enough exercise you will become lazy and maybe even gain too much weight and become overweight.

It is important to look after your body and brain you can get cancer and many other diseases that can kill you slowly and painfully. If you look after your body you might even live longer and if you live longer you will get more experiences and you might even enjoy being a sioner citizen.

Did you know that if you have lots of the same medicine when you are a child the medicine does not work when you are an adult. The medicine will not work because you will imoun to it and it is like an immunisation. It does not harm or heal you. If the medicine does not work you might pass away.

Your brain is the most important symptom in your body because if your brain does not work your heart, organs and the rest of your body will not work as it should. You will be unable to have a proper future and if you do not have a proper future you will be lonely and un happy all the time or you might die.

If you do not eat the right food which has too much carbs in it you will get sick and you might even get a disease called diabetes. If you have diabetes you will get very sick when you have low blood sugar and even when you get high blood sugar.

When you have diabetes you have to check your blood sugar every morning midday and night time after you have dinner. If your blood sugar is low then you should have a little treat with sugar in it to keep healthy and well.

Life Education

In the past few weeks we has been having a class with Lynn at the Life Education Trust Caravan. We have been talking about drugs and alcohol.

We have learned how drug and alcohol changes the brain functions. We have learned that just because it has a symbol that we trust on a tablet does not mean that it is not lethal.

There is all kinds of drugs like Marijuana, Glue, Cocaine, nitrous oxide from whip cream cans and many more. There were many examples or drug addicts and their lives, like Zeb, Amy, Rita, Vivian, James and Jason.

We have learned that the drugs do not just affect the person that used it but it also affects families, friends, neighbors, classmates, teachers, public and even more. The effect goes from personal to people to people you don't even know. It is like throwing a pebble in the pond because the effects ripples out.

World War 1

Did you know that there was a ceremony was held at Parliament Grounds. There was a 100-Gun Salute being fired on Wellington’s waterfront outside Te Papa. It was held at 9 to 9am this morning.

Did you know that my great grandfather was in the first World War. I do not know my grandfathers name I only know his last name (Baker). He is the Grandfather of my father.

Australia

Australia is the 6th most largest country as area. Australia is also called an island continent. Did you know that there is more than 23 million people in Australia. Did you know that Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide in Australia.

Australia has over 750 different reptile species, more than any other country in the world. There is a desert area the outback. The outback covers much of the land of Australia.
