Term 2 Immersion Assembly

The first day of term 2. While all of the classrooms were coming to sit down Mr J played (I like to move it, move it). After all of the classrooms was sitting down Mr Burt started to greet us back. “ This term is about science” Mr burt said.

Mr Burt said “Give it up for Team 1!” A movie started to play on the screen. The movie had a lot of safety equipment to protect the animals and us. There was a giraffe Walking into a metal box so he can get feed. The was hippos, kiwis, lions and all kind of other birds.

“Give a round of applause for Team 2” Mr Burt said. A music video popped up on the screen. There was lots of air balloons then the teachers come up on the stage. One of the teacher had a cardboard plane over her another teacher had a box on her waist with a little propeller at the end there was a teacher who was wearing a pilot suit and the last teacher was wearing a fairy suit.  The pilot through all kind of planes. Paper planes and gliding planes.

“Give a round of applause for Team 3” Mr Burt said. There was music and the team 3 teachers started to dance their way up onto the stage. They started to talk about rainbow colours and see if they can join the colours. You can join any colour to green except green. You can join any colour to black. You can not join any colour to white.

Mr Burt said “Give it up for Team 4!” A movie started to play on the screen. It had a video about flotation. There was a man who had a modal boat and he put it in a tank of water and was falling out of the tank and went in a jar. Next the man Was next to a big bowl of water and he had a piece of tape to show the height of the water and the man jumped into the bowl and he showed that the water rises.

Mr Burt said “ Its time for team 5!” The team 5 teacher started to march next to the stage with musical instruments. The teacher started to play the instruments for a little while then a movie started to play.It had the teacher play the instrument one by one and then it had them play all together. It also had the teacher play real instrument while lip syncing. They had been playing two kind instrument in the same movie.

“Give it up for Mr J” Mr Burt said. Mr J went up on the stage and started to talk about number 8 fence wire. He was saying “ You can Fisk anything with number 8 fencing wire. He asked for a boy named Lee. Mr J picked a little kid to come up and try and lift an object over his head. Lee could not lift it so Mr J grabbed a rope crane and asked the Lee to pull the rope to see if he can join the crane to the object. Mr J went behind the stage and grabbed a piece of number 8 fencing wire joined it together. Lee started to pull and he was able to lift the object over his head. Music started to play and we went back to class.

Hypothesis: (What do you think will happen?) e.g. I think that….

I think the pitch will go higher and higher each time you cut it.

Materials needed:

Scissors and a drink straw

Experiment (procedure):

e.g. Step 1 -

Crease the straw 2-3 cm on one end

Step 2 -

Cut a triangle shape on creased end. blow in cut end.

Step 3 -

Listen to the sound and record

Step 4 -

Cut the straw shorter

Step 5 -

Listen to the sound and record

Data (What happened?)

Straw Length	Sound
15cm	The pitch was annoying.
10cm	The pitch went higher and more annoying.
5cm	The pitch was really high and really annoying.

Observations:

When the straw was 15cm the pitch was annoying.

When the straw was 10cm the went higher and the sound got more annoying.

When the Straw was 5cm the pitch got even more higher and much more annoying.

Conclusion:

I have noticed when you cut the straw shorter the pitch goes higher.

Sound: What can I hear

Sound is important for or environment. Without sound it is not safe. What if you could not hear and your fire alarm goes off you would not hear it and you could get burnt. Without sound you could cross a road and get hit by a car. So sound help everyone.

When at home you might hear your brother sister dad or mum could be playing a game or watching a movie so you might join in that is sound. At school you can hear the kids in your class talking and tapping. Outside you can hear people chatting and kicking balls.

You can hear cars whizzing past the road so you know when to cross the road safely. Most People do not like to listen to their brothers or sisters fighting. You might hear the tap turning on and off that might be annoying. Not being able to hear must be boring and weird because sound makes the world a much better place.

Term 1 Reflection 2014

My highlight of this term is getting new friends like Neo, James, Kyal and Zion.

I have made progress in making movies and adding details in my drawings.

I know this because my drawings are looking more realistic then it was last year. This makes my movies look better.

I still need to work harder to improve my handwriting at home. I also need to get better at writing.

I know this because my mom can not understand my handwriting. My writing needs to make more sense.

I am most proud of my efforts to write faster and better.

My 3 main goals for Term 2 will be...

Main Goal 1. My goal is to sleep more and have a proper breakfast each day.

Main Goal 2. My goal is to concentrate on the work that I am told to do.

Main Goal 3. My goal is to stay calm and listen to the teacher.

Shark attack

Once upon a time there lived a man named Bob. He was so rich that he could have anything he wanted. He lived in a castle next to a very clean lake. He lived with his twins Steven and Connor. His wife had been dead for 2 years because of the birth of the twins.

One day the family went out fishing in their luxury boat. As soon as they put their line out, the fish were already biting. They pulled their lines up and put more bait on. Out of the blue, Stevens hand started to bleed. The boat started to shake and fish were swimming away. Suddenly a shark jumped over the boats and just missed Connor.

The twins were shaking with fear. Bob went inside the boat and grabbed a machete saying “I knew it was a good idea to bring this.” Bob came out of the boat and waited for the next shark. Another shark came and Bob cut it in half. Then two more sharks come and Bob cuts them both in half.

“Okay, this trip is officially over” said Bob walking to the steering wheel. So they motored over back to their house. As soon as they got to their house they had something to eat. For their dinner they had the shark that was left on the boat.

Six Sentence Story

Once upon a time there lived a man named Bob. He lived in a bush. He has a very creepy talent that he can bend his finger back and make it touch his wrist. He is very poor and has only one pair of clothing. Bob felt very sad and lonely. Bob was not happy being poor and lonely so he got a job and he became very rich and when he was rich he gave poor people one thousand dollars each.
